Built-Up Roofing (BUR) is typically multiple plies of roofing adhered with hot tar and using either a mineral surfaced cap sheet or loose gravel applied to the final layer for fire protection.
Metacrylics coatings provide protection over failing or aged built-up roofing (BUR). BUR absorbs and holds heat, advancing the aging and weathering of the roof and eventually causing failure and leaks. Coating BUR with Metacrylics increases the efficiency of the building by reflecting heat and damaging UV rays. Metacrylics coatings also create a monolithic membrane, protecting the existing roof from damaging weather and moisture. Metacrylics coatings withstand ponding conditions and resist debris, protecting the existing membrane from water infiltration. By using Metacrylics to coat the existing roof, building owners and managers are able to avoid costly tear-offs and re-roofs.
